The name Fenton comes from Joseph Fenton Mulcahy. Joseph Fenton Mulcahy served in World War II as a crew chief performing surveillance missions over Japan piloting the infamous P-51 Mustang. Upon returning home, Joseph worked in construction for a local contracting company. From there, Joseph founded Fenton Construction Co., Inc. in 1965. From its early beginnings, housed in Joseph’s home with just two employees, Fenton Construction Co., Inc. has grown into a medium sized general contractor and construction manager ready to perform ground-up or interior projects.
Michael J. Mulcahy took over as President of the family owned and operated company in 1987. Under his leadership, Fenton quickly rose through the ranks to become Central New Jersey’s leading builder of industrial, commercial, religious, educational, and sports facilities.
Michael has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. A graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Engineering Technology, Mike’s knowledge, experience, and attention to details began with his early involvement in construction. Since becoming President, he now serves in development/management and maintains his client base as executive manager of projects.
Fenton has completed many multi-million dollar construction projects throughout New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and Southern New York State. The company’s achievements include facilities for L’Oreal USA, the Sterns Department Store in the Bridgewater Commons Mall, the high-tech renovations of the men’s and women’s locker rooms for the Rutgers University basketball teams, the Skylands Ice World in Hardyston Township, the Penske Truck leasing facility in Parsippany, the Monroe 33 Sports Center in Monroe Township, and the new Family Life Center for Valley View Chapel in Long Valley.
